Ships pass signed by president Thomas Jefferson and secretary of state James Madison

Vellum DS signed by Jefferson as president, “Th: Jefferson,” and Madison as Secretary of State, one page, 10.5 x 13, December 6, 1804. Ships pass issued to “Briss Minerval of New York, Jacob Burger, Master and Commander of the Burthen Two Hundred fourteen 20/95 tons or thereabouts, mounted with no guns, navigated with five men to pass with her Company Passengers, Goods and Merchandise without any hinderence, seizure or molestation. Nicely gilt and cloth matted and framed by the Gallery of History, with color portraits of Jefferson and Madison and two biographical plaques, to an overall size of 37 x 23. In very good condition, with trimmed top edge, scattered toning and soiling, worn seal, expected folds and clear bold signatures. COA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA. Oversized.
