To Catch A Thief Signed Contract

DS, one page, 8.5 x 11, Paramount Pictures letterhead, October 11, 1954. Supplemental agreement referring to the principal employment agreement engaging Hitchcock to direct To Catch A Thief. The document reads, in part, “With respect to the photoplay tentatively entitled To Catch A Thief, the first of three photoplays provided for in the employment agreement dated February 27, 1954, this will confirm our understanding…The services of Grace Kelly for said photoplay includes the guaranteed compensation of $50,000 plus an additional $21,666.67 by reason of the rendition of Miss Kelly’s services in excess of ten weeks…in order to obtain the services of Miss Kelly, the undersigned corporation agreed to loan to Loew’s Incorporated the services of William Holden…” Boldly signed “Alfred J. Hitchcock” in blue ink at the bottom left. The document is accompanied by another ten pages of documentation relating to the production of the film, including a ledger page detailing costs for a scenario writer, Hitchcock’s compensation percentages, Hayes compensation, etc. In fine condition, with light edge toning, edge wear to cover page, light stains to upper left corners, affecting nothing.
