One of the greatest female athletes of all time, Didrikson was an All-American basketball player, an All-Star track and field athlete and a fine golfer. She won two gold medals at the 1932 Olympic games in the javelin and hurdles. Later, turning to professional golf, she won seventeen straight titles in 1947. TLS signed “‘Babe’ D. Zaharias,” one page, 8.5 x 11, The Babe Didrikson Zaharias Fund, Inc. letterhead, December 2, 1955. Didrikson responds to a collector. In full, “It is a pleasure to return my signature to you as you requested. I also want to extend my best wishes to your son, however, you did not include his name in your letter. So to Mr. Rogers’ son: Thank you very much for extending the honor of asking for my signature.” In fine condition, with expected folds and a minor brush to a letter of last name.
