Richard Gere's historic screen worn wardrobe from the 1980 motion picture American Gigolo. Twenty eight piece wardrobe was originally acquired from long time Hollywood costumer Rafael Arrozola in 1991. Collection contains a number of key items seen in the film including the jacket and tie worn in the film's poster, as well as a number of jackets and ties from the famous bedroom dressing scene. The clothing was largely designed by Giorgio Armani, his first such collection created for an American film. Pieces from the wardrobe are: Armani olive linen jacket and Armani burgundy tie with white dots, both of which appear in the poster, a collection of thirteen ties from Gere's bedroom scene, consisting of ten Armani ties, one Basile, one Madonna and one GM, an Armani rust colored cotton/silk jacket, which can be seen in the Polo Lounge, a rust colored Armani jacket, a Basile double breasted olive silk jacket with a Theodore Man Beverly Hills label, put on by Gere in his bedroom and worn while walking down Westwood, a Basile double breasted tan/brown silk jacket bearing a Theodore Man Beverly Hills label, an Osvaldo Testa olive colored double breasted jacket, an Armani navy linen double breasted jacket, an Armani navy blazer, worn by Gere as a limo driver for an elderly lady at the Beverly Hills Hotel, an Armani green linen shirt, donned by Gere in his bedroom, two pairs of Armani pants, one olive green and one blue, a pair of Armani gray ribbed cotton pants, one pair of Armani tan pants and one Armani eggplant colored shirt (missing tag), worn by Gere while walking down Malibu Beach with his female pimp. In fine overall condition, with some moth damage to several items, especially the last pair of pants and a couple of shirts. Many say this wardrobe was considered historic as it forever changed men's fashion, making designer clothing more desirable for American men. Accompanied by a copy of the film on DVD, the soundtrack to the film on LP and four promotional photos from the film, with Gere in some of the wardrobe offered here. RRAuction COA.
