Artist known as the "American Renoir," many of his paintings are in museums in New York, Paris and London. Served in the French Army during World War I, and was awarded the Croix de Guerre. Befriended author Ernest Hemingway after the war, and traveled Europe with him. Lot of three pieces includes a vintage 3.25 x 5.5 printed postcard with a watercolor of a woman raking leaves, with a brief note at the bottom, signed 'Waldo;' an ALS signed 'Waldo' with the original 9.5 x 4 printed envelope with a water color of a desert scene to the left of the address; and, an unsigned letter with its 6.5 x 3.5 printed envelope depicting a watercolor of a seal at right. In overall fine condition, with adhesive residue to the reverse of the postcard, wear to the larger envelope. RRAuction COA.
