DS as president, one page, 16 x 10, April 26, 1865. President Johnson appoints John Schertzer to the post of Deputy Postmaster at Massillon in Ohio. Nicely signed at the conclusion in black ink by Johnson and counter-signed by his acting Secretary of State. In very good condition, with light creasing and wrinkling, worn but intact seal, a document fold directly under signature, small piece missing from upper left corner, and an old tape reinforcement on reverse.
