In part, 'I...am much obliged to you for your equity and common justice...All paper south of this is very low here and I should not at any rate be willing to renew the payment of the bill by or in bank notes south of this unless the intent is added to the bill I would prefer Treasury notes as these I am always in want of for the purpose of paying duties at the Custom House.' In very good condition, with scattered toning and soiling, small area of paper loss to left edge, light edge chipping and several separations along mailing folds.
