DS, one page, 15.75 x 20, February 5, 1862. Eye catching military promotion, in which President Lincoln appoints Theodore K. Gibbs to the rank of Second Lieutenant in the First Regiment of the Artillery. Boldly signed at the conclusion in black ink, 'Abraham Lincoln,' and countersigned by his Secretary of War, Edwin Stanton. Some scattered light yellow staining, document fold through Lincoln's signature, worn but intact seal and official docketing to top, otherwise condition is fine.
