Virginia Statesman, signor of the Declaration of Independence. He served as President of the Congress, but opposed the Constitution because it lacked a bill of rights. He served in the Senate and resigned after the Bill of Rights was added to the Constitution. DS, one page, 8.75 x 2.75, no date. Scarce document portion, written in Lee's hand, signed in full in the text, 'Richard Henry Lee.' A portion of an indenture with eighty five word's in Lee's hand on one side and an additional eighty words in his hand on the reverse. In very good condition, with overall toning, heavier at the right edge, show through from text on reverse, two small holes, and some light edge chipping.
