An original signed handwritten poem by Stuart Sutcliffe on a 4.5 x 7.5 off-white lined sheet removed from one of his sketchbooks submitted as an applicant for admission to the Royal College of Art, which was the property of the Sutcliffe estate and was sold at Bonhams auction in July 2003. Fourteen line poem is entitled Beauty and dated November 1955, and reads, in part, 'It comes and fades but, no excuse is proffered, For this myth which captures mankind under some ghoulish spell, who knows what fruitless ventures.'
