Description

Czar of Russia, reigned 1881 - 1894. The assassination of his father Alexander II by a nihilist bomb drove this narrow-minded and suspicious monarch to pursue a rigid policy of unmitigated autocracy. DS, signed 'Aleksandr,' one page, 8.5 x 14, June 17, 1892. An Imperial Decree to the Chapter of Russian Imperial and Royal Orders in which Alexander bestows the Imperial order of St. Stanislav to Latvian landowner Richard Pullman, President of the Society of Water Rescues. Boldly signed at the conclusion in black ink by the Czar. In fine condition, with a light shade of toning and a trivial tear to right edge. RRAuction COA.
