TLS signed 'W.R. Hearst, Jr.,' one page, 7.25 x 10.5, New York Journal American letterhead, December 8, 1943. Hearst expresses his appreciation for support given to a Pearl Harbor Day memorial program sponsored by the Journal American newspaper and the American Women's Voluntary Services of Greater New York. In part, 'We endeavored to remind our city that, out of a day of infamy, the great things for which this country stands can rise with even greater power. Your gracious participation helped make this hour of rededication possible and I thank you!' In very good condition, with light soiling along top and one side, not affecting distinctive signature.
