TLS signed 'G. W. Carver,' one page, 8.5 x 11, Tuskegee Normal and Industrial Institute letterhead, October 18, 1932. Letter to Ralph Douberly, a young poet friend of carvers. In part, 'Your delightful letter has had to go without answering...owing to the enormous accumulation of mail that I found awaiting my return...The article in the American Magazine has increased my mail more than half.' He then critiques a poem of Douberly's. 'To me it is unusually strong and requires a great deal of thought to get underneath it all...it required a depth of thought that the average reader would not be able to put into it.' Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. In fine condition. RRAuction COA.
