Description

Settled in London in 1900 with his second wife. He fell in love with his secretary, poisoned his wife, dismembered her and buried the remains in his cellar. He and his mistress fled to Canada where he was tried and executed. His last request was to be buried with a photograph of his mistress. TLS signed 'H. H. Crippen,' one page, 8 x 10, Aural Remedies Co. letterhead, February 28, 1910. Letter to a lady. Crippen sends a copy of the Otological Gazette, which outlines treatments for several illnesses. He closes the letter urging her not to delay 'as each single day means a firmer hold of the disease.' Accompanied by associated clippings and letters claiming Crippen was innocent. In poor condition, with tape toning to mailing folds, one through signature and letter affixed to an identical size piece of heavier stock. RRAuction COA.
