Madam Curie signed laboratory document

Polish-born French physicist, she and her husband Pierre discovered two new elements, polonium and radium, in 1898. In 1911 she won the Nobel Prize for Chemistry. She died of leukemia brought about by her work with radioactive material. DS, signed 'M. Curie,' one page, 8.5 x 12.5, Institut Du Radium letterhead, June 15, 1923. Document, in French, in which Curie measures the 'Dosage of Mesothorium by Gamma Ray,' contained within a specific piece of laboratory apparatus, and certifies her finding that 'the [radio] active material contained in this apparatus is mesothorium, also perhaps within a certain quantity of radium.' Certificate details the apparatus tested and method used. In fine condition, with bisecting horizontal fold. COA John Reznikoff/University Archives and RRAuction COA.
