Rare Charles Goodyear signed document

Inventor who developed and patented the vulcanization process which is the basis of all rubber manufacturing. Despite the patent, Goodyear became embroiled in legal battles over ownership of the process and died in debt in 1860. DS, signed 'C. F. R. Goodyear,' one page, 8.5 x 13.5, October 11, 1839. Deed for a property in New Haven, Connecticut, signed by Goodyear as a witness. In fine condition, with expected document folds, one through a single letter of signature, some light toning and intact seal. COA John Reznikoff/University Archives and RRAuction COA.
