Inventor who developed and patented the vulcanization process which is the basis of all rubber manufacturing. Despite the patent, Goodyear became embroiled in legal battles over ownership of the process and died in debt in 1860. DS, signed 'C. F. R. Goodyear,' one page, 8.5 x 13.5, October 11, 1839. Deed for a property in New Haven, Connecticut, signed by Goodyear as a witness.
