Endorsement, signed 'Np,' on the left edge of a French document to Napoleon, one page, 8 x 12.5, dated June 26, 1811. Document is a request sent by his Minister of War Henri Jacques Guikkaume Clarke. Clarke writes about five noncommissioned officers, who are entitled to retirement pay. The five men request that their retirement funds be made available to them 'in the Illyrian provinces where they are now employed in the customs offices.' Napoleon conveys his approval on the left side, dated June 18, 1811 in another hand. In very good condition, with overall toning, several pencil notations, light wear to bottom edge and an old catalog heading affixed near bottom. RRAuction COA.
