Description

?Everything is sort of up roar in Hollywood about the talking pictures...However I am very anxious to try the talkies as I think it will open up a new field for me.?

Actor, director, screenwriter of comedies, most notably for Hal Roach. Chase started in silents but made a successful switch to sound until his drink-related death of a heart attack in 1940 at the age of 46. TLS, one page, 7.25 x 11, personal letterhead, September 8, 1928. Interesting letter to an associate, with Chase preparing to make the move to talking pictures. In part, 'Everything is sort of up roar in Hollywood about the talking pictures. Mr. Roach is in New York now making arrangements for the equipment. I am not sure whether we will make all talking pictures or just synchronized with music and sound. However I am very anxious to try the talkies as I think it will open up a new field for me.' In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. RRAuction COA.
