Description

Forced to resign from the navy for misconduct, Heydrich joined the SS (. He soon won Heinrich Himmler's confidence and in 1934 was appointed deputy chief of the Gestapo. His ruthless methods there and elsewhere and his numerous executions earned him the name 'the Hangman of Europe.' In May, 1942, he was shot by Czech patriots. Several days later the entire male population of the village of Lidice was murdered in retaliation. TLS in German, signed 'Reinhard,' one page, 8.25 x 11.75, SD letterhead, August 12, 1941. Untranslated cover letter to a secret report on the state of the Reich, stapled to the cover of the report. Signed at the conclusion in black ink as SS-Gruppenfuhrer. In fine condition, with punch holes to left edge and a couple office notations. RRAuction COA.
