Italian physicist and inventor who devoted his life to experiments in wireless communication, and was awarded with the Nobel prize in 1909. TLS signed 'G. Marconi,' one page, 8 x 10, Reale Accademia d'Italia letterhead, June 3, 1931. Letter to physicist Samuel Goudsmit. In part, 'I have to thank you for your kind acceptance of our invitation to the Meeting of Physics promoted by the 'Volta Foundation' and have much pleasure in informing you that the said Meeting will be held in Rome...In this connection I beg to inquire whether you would be willing to read a paper on Spectroscopy and Nuclear Moments...An early notice of your readiness to write the above paper would be greatly appreciated...Further particulars concerning the agenda of the Meeting...will form the subject of another communication. I shall be glad to know whether Mrs. Goudsmit proposes to accompany you.' In fine condition, with a few light bends and creases, mostly to right edge, pencil notation to top and a couple staple holes to top left corner.
