Letter, written while governor of Virginia, to Colonel John Syme. In full, 'Col. Syme will direct as many of the British prisoners as can be well lodged by Mr. Thillman at Hano'r Court House to stay there and the residue to go to Goochland Courthouse. The prisoners at both these places are to walk about in the day time, but to be locked up at night securely. They are to be well fed and treated with humanity.' Colonel Syme was a delegate to the first Virginia Convention and served in the American Revolution. In fine condition, with light soiling and scattered foxing, folds, a couple light pencil notations, tiny holes at fold intersections, minor tape repair on reverse, and mounting remnants to left edge.
