DS as president, one page, 18 x 14.5, August 1, 1864. Lincoln appoints George J. Abott of the District of Columbia consul of the United States of America for Sheffield and Bradford and requests 'Her Britaine Majesty The King of Sweden and Norway...to permit...Abbot fully and peaceably to enjoy and exercise said office. Countersigned by Secretary of War William Seward. In fine condition, with light toning from mirroring of seal over first name of bold signature a few wrinkles and expected folds.
