In part, 'I only wish there was more positive action I could take to remedy the situation in the Alhambra Post Office...Until we get a Republican administration in 1948, the Democrats still have complete control of patronage...Needless to say, in 1948 it is our intention to unfreeze all the postmasters and to remove those who have been playing politics rather than staying on the job...I am going to make every effort to see that the Alhambra Post office is investigated by the new Senate-House Committee which has been set up for that purpose.'
