Description

King of England who resisted a halt to the slave trade and was the last king to attempt to force a Prime Minster on Parliament. ALS signed 'William,' one page both sides, 7.25 x 9.25, December 21, 1827. Letter to Clifford, referring to events being named as heir to the throne and appointed Lord High Admiral. In part, 'You cannot more sincerely regret than I do that the need presented me...to Plymouth...under the present state of affairs I am sure that you will retain leave at the moment you can...As Dennison has determined going to India [I] Shan't be very sorry if Lady Charlotte is detained by ill health.' In fine condition, with a couple pencil notations, some minor light soiling and toning and a nice large signature. RRAuction COA.
