French film pioneer who with his magician's background figured out all of the camera tricks still used today. ALS in French, signed 'G. Melies,' four pages on two adjoining sheets, 4.5 x 7, April 19, 1929. Letter to a friend. In part, 'Yesterday's seance did not have the respected results...the hall will be free in June. The chance that we can create the same situation for ourselves...that we will have the grand seance towards the middle of April...I am a little like Robert Houdin's bottle, inexhaustible, when the design is taking form, serious or comic, it occupies all my spare time...everyone is enchanted with your idea for the 'special number.'.'
