Two letters by Crothers to famous stage actress Katharine Cornell: a TLS, three pages on two adjoining sheets, 5.5 x 8.5, June 10, [no year], about the play 'When Bill Comes Back,' in part: "There is work and work to be done on the play of course—only about two thirds of it are on paper now, and the end is embarrassingly bad. But the reason I am sending this to you is because the two points you so wisely spoke of the other day are crucial ones. First—end of scene one Act three. Not only must Bill not be won over then—but must be hurt and further away from Jane because she wanted to go and did give up her job here. The real reason that Jane stays is not because she is moved and stirred when she sees the children want her and need her—but because she is ashamed of herself that she was about to quit—and because she knows her job is to see Bill through—till his mind is completely well—whether he comes back to her or not"; and an ALS in pencil, one page, 8.5 x 11, no date, in part: "I saw you and your green hat last night…Think it by far the best of you since 'Divorcement.'"
