Scarce memorial card for Abraham Lincoln, 3.25 x 4.75, with black background and blind-embossed tombstone bearing the text: "In Memory of Abraham Lincoln, President of the United States of America / Born February 12th, 1809. / Departed this late April 15th, 1865. / ‘Yet Speaketh.’ / ‘For thou art Freedom’s now, and Fame’s— / One of the few—the immortal names— / That were not born to die.’ / 'With malice toward none, with charity for all.' / March 4th 1865 / Second Inaugural. / Requiescat in Pace!" Although unconfirmed, these uncommon cards are routinely catalogued as having been passed out at Lincoln’s funeral in the East Room of the White House and were also given to dignitaries who boarded the funeral train from Washington to Springfield. In fine condition.
