Description

Original vintage glossy 8 x 10 photo of Marilyn Monroe in a half-length pose wearing a dark sequined dress with a matching jacket and jeweled earrings, her hair styled in short curls, as she looks down while holding and reading an issue of Films in Review magazine. The reverse bears an affixed caption: “Marilyn Monroe, Fastest-Climbing Hollywood Star, is also interested in what the highbrows think of her — as evidenced by her eager perusal of ‘Films In Review’ published by the National Board of Review, a cross-section of the public, for the benefit of the movie-bent intelligentsia. The cameraman snapped the photo on the movie set of 20th Century-Fox' newest film, ‘Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.’” In fine condition, with light scattered creases, most notably to the right corners. Encapsulated by PSA as an authentic 'Type I' photograph, circa 1953.
The Marc and Mary Perkins Collection.
