Sonny Capone's Arminius Model HW 38 'Titan Tiger' .38 Special revolver, serial no. 566477, manufactured in Germany by H. Weihrauch of Mellrichstadt and imported into the United States by F.I.E. of Miami, Florida. The blued revolver measures 10.75˝ overall and features a 6˝ barrel, adjustable rear sight, six-shot cylinder, and checkered wraparound wood grip, with an inset Arminius medallion on the left side of the frame. Markings include the Arminius warrior-head emblem over "HW 38," "Cal. 38 Special" on the barrel, "Made in Germany" and "H. Weihrauch Mellrichstadt" on the frame, "F.I.E. Miami, Fla." on the barrel, and German proof marks. In overall excellent condition, with a well-functioning action, strong bore and rifling, and only light scuffs to the blued finish. The gun includes a US PeaceKeeper pistol case.
Also included is a “Palmetto Pistol Club” shooting medal attributed to Sonny Capone, featuring a red-and-blue ribbon, bars marked “.45 Timed Fire” and “Sharpshooter / Class 3rd.,” and a suspended pistol-and-target medallion, maker-marked “Blackinton” on the reverse. Accompanied by a photocopy of a Witherell's provenance sheet identifying it as “Sonny Capone's Shooting Medals” and reproducing the signature of Barbara Mae Capone, as well as paperwork from Nevada Gun Auctions by Witherell, where the revolver was offered in its January 2025 inaugural winter auction. The auction documentation records its provenance as descending directly from Sonny Capone to his daughters, uninterrupted.
The only son of notorious Chicago gangster Al Capone and Mae Coughlin Capone, Albert Francis ‘Sonny’ Capone largely avoided the criminal notoriety that surrounded his father, later changing his name to Albert Francis Brown. A personal firearm with direct Capone-family provenance.
