American author (1856-1923) best known for the juvenile classic Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm. Two vintage albumen portrait photographs of author Kate Douglas Wiggin, including a full-length portrait affixed to its original 5.25 x 8.25 studio mount by W. Crooke of Edinburgh, which is signed and inscribed in ink, “To Mr. & Mrs. Will Moreton, with a Merry Christmas, Kate Douglas Wiggin, 1907”; and a bust-length portrait by the London studio of Elliott & Fry, affixed to its original 8.5 x 11.75 studio mount, signed and inscribed in ink, “Always dear Mabel, yours affectionately, Kate Douglas Wiggin, December 21st 1899,” with Wiggin adding another inscription to the upper left, “To Mabel.” In overall very good to fine condition, with faint staining to the smaller mount, and a corner crease to the larger mount, neither of which affects image or handwriting.
