Description

Businessman, financier, and diplomat (1888-1969) who served as the first chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission and as U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom. Patriarch of the Kennedy family, he was the father of President John F. Kennedy, Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, and Senator Ted Kennedy. Eight TLSs from Joseph P. Kennedy, signed “Joe,” “Joe Kennedy,” and “Joseph P. Kennedy,” all typed on his personal letterhead, dated between 1949 and 1961, all addressed to drama critic and columnist for the Hollywood Reporter, Irving Hoffman. In overall very good to fine condition. Accompanied by unsigned telegrams, mimeographs, and several letters from Kennedy’s secretary, Diane Winter.
