Rare Olympic Order in Gold presented to Javier Gómez-Navarro, the Vice-President of the Organizing Committee of the Barcelona 1992 Summer Olympics. The golden collar-style award measures approximately 8.75˝ x 12.75˝, and features the Olympic rings at center, flanked by linked olive leaves leading into a golden chain. The reverse of the rings bears an engraved maker mark from Bertoni of Milan. In very fine condition. Accompanied by a photocopy of the Olympic Order certificate presented to Gómez-Navarro in January 1993.

Established in 1975, the Olympic Order is the highest award of the IOC and is issued to recognize particularly distinguished contributions to the Olympic Movement. It was originally issued in three grades—gold, silver, and bronze—with the gold class reserved for the most distinguished contributions to the Olympic Movement.

Javier Gómez-Navarro (1945–2024) was a Spanish politician, businessman, and sports administrator whose career was closely intertwined with the modernization of Spanish sport and tourism. Gómez-Navarro served as Spain’s Secretary of State for Sport from 1987 to 1993, during which time he helped reform the nation’s sporting infrastructure and worked with the private sector to transform professional sports clubs into limited companies. He also served as Vice-President of the Organizing Committee of the Barcelona 1992 Summer Olympics, playing a key role in the planning and execution of the Games that helped redefine Barcelona’s international image and showcased Spain on the world stage. He later served as Spain’s Minister of Trade and Tourism from 1993 to 1996.
