The September 20, 1976, concert at London’s 100 Club marked the opening night of the seminal “100 Club Punk Special,” a two-day event widely regarded as a defining moment in the emergence of British punk. Featuring performances by the Sex Pistols and the Clash—alongside Siouxsie and the Banshees in their debut appearance and Subway Sect—the show brought together the movement’s key early acts on a single bill. Notorious for its chaotic atmosphere and brief outbreak of violence, the event drew significant attention and helped crystallize punk as a distinct and confrontational cultural force.
