"XXVI Olympiad Atlanta 1996"—silver gymnastics medal from the Centennial Olympic Games

Desirable unawarded winner's medal for gymnastics from the Atlanta 1996 Summer Olympics. Silver, 70 mm, 175 gm, by Malcolm Grear Designers; manufactured by Reed and Barton. The front, inscribed "XXVI Olympiad Atlanta 1996" with Olympic rings, shows a ‘Seated Victory’ holding a laurel wreath and palm branch, with the Colosseum looming in the background; the reverse, inscribed "Centennial Olympic Games," features the Atlanta logo and a stylized 'Quilt of Leaves' olive branch with the pictogram for gymnastics below. The bottom edge of the unawarded medal is not engraved. Suspended from its original green-and-gold ribbon, embroidered with laurel leaves and "Atlanta 1996," and housed in its handsome laser-etched "Atlanta 1996" wooden case.
