Dutch painter (1836-1912) famed for his exotic portrayals of the luxury and decadence of antiquity. Pencil signature, “L. Alma-Tadema,” with a small original self-portrait sketch on the reverse of an off-white 3.5 x 5.5 menu from the restaurant at the London art gallery New Gallery, dated to July 1, 1889, which is signed by 16 others, including actor Henry Irving, writer and art critic J. Comyns Carr, painter Philip Burne-Jones, architect Edward Robert Robson, painter and designer Edward Burne-Jones, actress Ellen Terry, and Alma-Tadema’s wife, Laura. In fine condition.
