Description

Volumes I and II of the official three-part NASA manual series “Launch Vehicle Operations for Support of Space Vehicle Countdown Demonstration Test and Launch Countdown,” prepared for Launch Vehicle Operations by the Boeing Company (Atlantic Test Center, Saturn V-Launch Operations), both stamped as “Released for AS 506” and “Assembled for CD.” Both stapled manuals feature a document control block in the upper right corner of the front cover, which bears identical Test Numbers (V-20060), Revision Numbers (010), and Effectivity (AS-506), but feature differing Release Dates of June 30, 1969 (Vol. I) and July 3, 1969 (Vol. II). Both measure 8.5 x 11, and contain approximately 120 pages (Vol. I) and 333 pages (Vol. II). Volume I covers launch vehicle operating procedures through spacecraft cryogenic loading, while Volume II contains procedures for the final countdown sequence—from completion of cryogenic loading through the terminal count—along with appendices covering safing, recycle, propellant drain operations, cryogenic testing, and related launch support procedures. These manuals document the complex technical procedures used to prepare and launch the Saturn V rocket for Apollo 11, the historic July 1969 mission that carried astronauts to the moon and marked the first successful human landing on another celestial body. Numerous pages bear affixed Post-it tabs. In overall fine condition, with edgewear, and toning to covers.
