Handsome book with desirable double fore-edge paintings: The Book of Common Prayer, and Administration of the Sacraments, and Other Rites and Ceremonies of the Church, according to the use of The United Church of England and Ireland. Oxford: Printed at the Clarendon Press by Dawson, Bensley, and Cooke, 1809. Hardcover bound in full long-grain Morocco, gilt-rolled, with gilt-stamped and letter panelled spine, 5.25 x 8.75, featuring rare double fore-edge paintings of patriotic imagery, with portraits of George and Martha Washington, as well as scenes of the American Revolution. Book condition: VG/None, with wear to joints and edges, an ownership inscription to first free end page, and the bookplate of "Mrs. Sophia Hone, 1810" affixed to the front pastedown. Accompanied by the original catalog card from noted booksellers Zeitlin & Ver Brugge, Los Angeles.
