Description

Unbound official NASA manual entitled “Apollo 15, Final, Lunar Surface Television Operations Plan,” 8 x 10.5, 57 pages, July 5, 1971, marked on the front cover in felt tip, “Cooper/FC9.” Prepared by the Apollo Communication Systems Section of the Manned Spacecraft Center, the manual contains procedures, instructions for camera use, and timelines for television operations once on the lunar surface. It contains the following sections: Introduction, Requirements and Priorities, Operational and Equipment Constraints, Television Modes, INCO Interfaces and Procedures, and Specific INCO Procedures. The interior bears some annotations. In fine condition. Accompanied by a letter of provenance: “This document belonged to my uncle, John H. Cooper. He worked at NASA-Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston, TX from the mid-1960s to January 1973, primarily as a geology-specialist flight controller. He was also involved in the development of the Lunar Rover Vehicle. He died in late January 1973 near the summit of Mt. Aconcagua, Argentina, during a climbing expedition.”
