Known as Ian Jacob (1899–1993), he served as the Military Assistant Secretary to Winston Churchill's war cabinet and was later a distinguished BBC broadcasting executive. Loosely laid into Vol. V are a "With the Compliments of the Author" slip and a facsimile Churchill signature. Overall book condition: VG/VG-, with some toned tape repairs and sunning to the jacket of Vol. I, and mottled foxing to textblock edges.
