Group lot of 12 items from past Mediterranean Games, a multi-sport event organized by the International Committee of Mediterranean Games (CIJM) that is held every four years among athletes from countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea in Africa, Asia, and Europe. The items, which span 50 years of competition (1955 to 2005), include the following: a bronze-tone medallion and a pair of torch relay cuff links from the 2nd Games, held in Barcelona, Spain, in 1955; a bronze-tone medallion and three ribbon badges (marked “Participant” and “F.N.”) from the 3rd Games, held in Beirut, Lebanon, in 1959; a ticket booklet from the 8th Games, held in Split, Yugoslavia, in 1979, containing 47 tickets for the closing ceremony and soccer (football) finals on September 29, 1979; a bronze-tone medallion from the 11th Games, held in Athens, Greece, in 1991; and a gold-tone medallion from the 15th Games, held in Almería, Spain, in 2005. Also included is an athlete’s participation badge (ostensibly from the 7th Games, held in Algiers, Algeria, in 1975), and a silver-tone medallion commemorating the opening of the Cairo International Stadium in 1960.
