From the collection of Rupert 'Robert' Lissner, an independent software developer who created the original AppleWorks in the early 1980s, having seen the Lisa's GUI and deciding that the fundamentals could be implemented on the Apple II. Working largely on his own, Lissner engineered a groundbreaking combination of word processing, spreadsheet, and database tools.
Released in 1984, AppleWorks became one of the most influential and widely used programs on the Apple II platform, praised for its seamless integration, ease of use, and remarkable efficiency for such limited hardware. Lissner’s work set a new standard for all-in-one office software and remained central to business productivity on Apple products for over two decades.
