Impressive matching set of three winners' medals from the Paris 1900 Olympics. Each silver, 42 mm x 60 mm, 55 gm, by Frederic Vernon, Paris. The fronts are inscribed "Republique Francaise, Exposition Universelle, Paris 1900," and feature a winged goddess scattering laurels over the grounds of the Exposition; and the reverse of each identifies the event, "Concours Scolaires de Jeux Athletiques [School Athletic Games Competitions]," and depicts a victorious athlete upon a podium. Each medal is stamped "Argent" on the edge, and two medals exhibit tarnishing. Includes an original green paper box and the bottom sections of two other boxes, all bearing varying degrees of wear.
