Engraved visiting card of Franz Joseph Haydn, 3.25 x 2, imprinted with four bars of "Molto Adagio" music and lyrics: "Hin ist alle meine Kraft | alt und schwach bin ich [All my strength is gone | I am old and weak], Joseph Haydn." Framed to an overall size of 4.25 x 3. In fine condition.
From 1797 onward, Haydn spent the last twelve years of his life in the house he had acquired in 1793 in the Windmühle suburb (Untere Steingasse 73, today Haydngasse 19), where he composed, among other works, the two oratorios 'The Creation' and 'The Seasons,' as well as six masses for the Esterházy family. From 1802 onward, he was no longer able to compose or perform in public due to illness.
