Description

Grouping of official Olympic apparel from the personal collection of Diane Moyer, a goalkeeper for the Team USA women’s field hockey team that won a bronze medal at the Los Angeles 1984 Summer Olympics. Included with the clothing is a collection of over 50 signatures from American athletes who competed at the 1984 Summer Games, the majority being medalists, as well as an official signed resolution from Mark D. Corrigan, secretary of the Pennsylvania Senate, declaring a ‘Pennsylvania Olympic Athletes Day,’ and correspondence related to the United States Olympic Committee’s decision to boycott the Moscow Summer Games of 1980. The apparel is listed as follows:

Warm-up uniform issued to members of the American women’s field hockey team for the Moscow 1980 Summer Olympics. Made by Levi’s, the plush (acrylic and polyester blend) patriotically colored zippered jacket (medium/small) and drawstring pants (size 30 x 31) ensemble features Levi’s patches to both, with the jacket also containing an embroidered “USA, 1980 Olympic Team” patch, a “Field Hockey” patch, and the back emblazoned with large “USA” lettering.

Three official Team USA shirts made by Levi’s for the Los Angeles 1984 Summer Olympics, including two polo shirts, both women’s size large, and one t-shirt, women’s size medium. The fronts of both polo shirts show Levi’s and Team USA logos, with one also reading: “1984 Olympic Field Hockey Team.” The front of the t-shirt features American shield designs honoring the 1984 American Olympic team.

Gore-Tex/nylon Levi’s rain jacket issued to the American women’s field hockey team for the Los Angeles 1984 Summer Olympics, size medium, with the left chest bearing an embroidered patch, “1984, Los Angeles, USA,” and the back reading “USA.”

Warm-up uniform by Adidas consisting of a windbreaker jacket (large) with matching pants (medium), with the jacket chest area featuring a “U.S. Olympic Festival ‘87, North Carolina” patch, and the back area marked “USA.”
