Extremely rare field judge’s badge issued for the St. Louis 1904 Olympics. Gilt-bronze, 32 mm x 32, 11 gm, by Dieges & Clust, New York. The gold-tone badge features a central male figure holding a banner that reads “Pax” [Peace] with embossed upper and lower text: “Universal Exposition” and “St. Louis U.S.A., 1904.” The reverse bears the maker’s mark. Issued to officials to be worn as a badge, the medal is missing its ribbon and upper pin bar. A rare official's badge from the first Olympic Games to be held outside of Europe.
