Collection of twelve of Steve Jobs's personally-owned clip-on bowties, retrieved from the bedroom closet of his boyhood home. The bow ties display a wide variety of patterns and colors—ranging from solid to plaid to polka-dotted—with hues leaning towards reds, blues, and browns. Makers include Ty-Rex, Ormond, Wembley, Spur, Ever-Grip, and Best Clip. In overall fine condition.
In his 1972 high school yearbook photo, Steve Jobs appears wearing a solid black bow tie—a small but telling detail that hints at his early flair for individuality. In the years that followed, he occasionally wore bow ties at Apple’s early events, projecting a mix of youthful confidence and quirky intellect. This brief fashion phase contrasted sharply with the minimalist black turtleneck and jeans that would later define his public image. The shift reflected Jobs’ evolution from an ambitious young innovator to a visionary with a distinct and enduring personal brand.
Provenance: from the personal collection of John Chovanec, stepbrother of Steve Jobs.
