Unique bespoke edition of the Apple iPad 2 (64GB 3G/WiFi version) customized by Gold & Co. London & Damas in 2012 for King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia, and presented as a gift to former president George H. W. Bush. The iPad's caseback has been luxuriously plated in 24K gold and encrusted with 1,147 prong-set round diamonds forming the tree-and-sword emblem of Saudi Arabia (10.50 TW). Inscribed at the bottom in English and Arabic: "To our Dearest Friend president George Bush, Wishing you all the health and happiness, Abdullah Bin Abdelaziz Al Saud." In fine condition, with some light scratches to the polished gold finish.
The iPad is housed in a gorgeous burlwood box with "Gold & Co./Damas" inlay in the lid. Accompanied by a presentation card, "With the Compliments of Abdullah Ben Abdulaziz Al Saud," in its envelope addressed to "President George H. W. Bush," as well as a letter to Bush from Ambassador Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir, dated March 21, 2012, in full: "Dear President Bush, I have the honor of forwarding to you the enclosed gift from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud."
Includes a photocopy of Bush's reply, sent to the king, in part: "Your able Ambassador, Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir, dutifully forwarded your gift. I am overwhelmed. Certainly this is one of the most beautiful and unique gifts I have received in a very long time." Also includes a certificate of authenticity from Gold. & Co., London, and two appraisal letters from Bullock Estate & Diamond Brokers.
