Beautiful original painting by Stanley Mouse of a circular Jerry Garcia emblem, accomplished in watercolor on an off-white 10.5 x 11 sheet of artist paper, depicting a central blue rose with rising green leaves against a mauve background, encircled by a red border that features the name of the Grateful Dead’s iconic frontman in stylized uppercase letters: “Jerry Garcia.” Signed below in ink by the artist with his copyright signature, “S. Mouse, ‘88,” who draws the small head of a mouse. In very fine condition.
Known widely under the pseudonym Mouse or Stanley Mouse, Stanley Miller was a San Francisco-based artist who produced a variety of psychedelic rock concert posters and album covers in the 1960s for bands like Big Brother and the Holding Company, Quick Silver Messenger Service, and, most famously, the Grateful Dead. Along with artist Alton Kelley, Miller is credited with creating the Grateful Dead's iconic skeleton and rose imagery.
