Two Civil War-era mailing envelopes issued for the presidential campaign of Abraham Lincoln, both 5.5 x 3, which include: a cover from S. Raynor of New York with a cachet of a beardless Lincoln above a shield marked “President, Abraham Lincoln / Vice-President Hannibal Hamlin,” with right side featuring a cachet of a young Lincoln splitting rails for fences in front of his log cabin, and the reverse featuring an ownership notation: “Reced. Wednesday, April 3, 1861”; and a campaign cover with the reverse flap featuring raised text, “Hon. Abraham Lincoln of Ill., for President / Hon. Hannibal Hamlin of Me., for V. Pres.,” and the front featuring embossed stars and text, “Slavery Sectional, Freedom National, Union & Liberty, Onward to Victory.” In overall very good to fine condition, with soiling to the Lincoln cover.
