Description

Original vintage 1960s glossy 10.25 x 8 photo of the Rolling Stones performing on stage during the group’s legendary concert that took place at Hyde Park in London, England, on July 5, 1969. The reverse bears a London Photo Agency copyright stamp. In fine condition. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks.

The band’s first public concert in over two years, 'The Stones in the Park' was a free outdoor festival held in Hyde Park on July 5, 1969, that was headlined by the Rolling Stones and featured supporting acts like Third Ear Band, King Crimson, Screw, Alexis Korner's New Church, Family, and the Battered Ornaments. The concert, which was performed in front of an estimated audience of between 250,000 and 500,000 spectators, was held just two days after the tragic death of founding member Brian Jones, in whose memory the Hyde Park performance was dedicated. As part of the commemoration, stagehands released hundreds of white butterflies from the stage area, Mick Jagger took the stage to read excerpts from ‘Adonais,’ a poem by Percy Bysshe Shelley about the death of his friend, John Keats, and the band played a Johnny Winter song that was one of Jones's favorites, ‘I'm Yours and I'm Hers.’
